Another Legion Go head to head, this time in 007 First Light: the Legion Go 2 with the Z2 Extreme and 32GB of RAM against the original Legion Go with the Z1 Extreme and 16GB. Frame rate on the Go 2 beats out the Go 1 pretty handily here, often by 3 to 10 FPS, though I think some updated drivers for the Go 2 would help with the frame time issues the game still has on that device.
- Matched low/medium custom settings at 25W on both, in Xbox mode, with the newest drivers available as of June 19, 2026.
- 800p native: the overlay mostly read the low to mid 30s on the Go 1 (24–41 FPS overall) and around 40 on the Go 2 (29–48 FPS overall).
- 1000p with FSR Performance: mostly mid 40s to upper 50s on the Go 1 and 50s to mid 60s on the Go 2, with both spiking into the 70s in lighter scenes.
- VRAM isn't a factor here. The game never really got past about 5GB for me.
Test setup
These are matched settings for a fair comparison, not recommended settings. You can certainly knock things down, especially on the Z2 Extreme, but 25W with 800p native or 1000p upscaled made for a decent comparison between the two.
- Legion Go 2: Z2 Extreme (Radeon 890M), 32GB RAM, 10GB VRAM
- Legion Go (original): Z1 Extreme (Radeon 780M), 16GB RAM, 6GB VRAM
- Both at 25W, running in Xbox mode, with the newest Windows and GPU drivers available as of June 19, 2026
- Resolution: 800p native, then 1000p upscaled with FSR Performance
- Settings: medium textures, 8x filtering, low on everything except reflections (medium), and all post effects off
- FPS numbers are what the on-screen overlay read in the video, checked every two seconds. The two sides play the same section, but moments don't always line up exactly.
The different VRAM settings don't make a real difference. This game hasn't even reached around 5GB of VRAM for me.
800p native
Through the drive to the hotel, catching the plane and following Greenway, the Go 1's overlay mostly read the low to mid 30s, with an overall range of 24–41 FPS. The Go 2 mostly sat around 40, with a range of 29–48 FPS.

1000p with FSR Performance
Upscaling from 1000p with FSR Performance gives both a nice lift. The Go 1 mostly read the mid 40s to upper 50s (with dips to 37 or 38), and the Go 2 mostly the 50s to mid 60s (with a low of 41). In lighter scenes around the plane and the parachute, both spiked into the 70s, up to 75 on the Go 1 and 77 on the Go 2.

In these overlay shots, the Go 2 also ran cooler, around 62 to 65°C against 70 to 72°C on the Go 1.
Verdict
The Legion Go 2 wins this one pretty handily on frame rate, often by 3 to 10 FPS with the exact same settings and wattage. The one thing holding it back is frame times. The game still has some frame time issues on the Go 2, and I think updated drivers would help there.
FAQ
How much faster is the Legion Go 2 than the Legion Go in 007 First Light?
With the same settings at 25W, often 3 to 10 FPS. At 800p native the Go 1 mostly read the low to mid 30s and the Go 2 around 40 on the overlay.
Does VRAM matter for 007 First Light on the Legion Go?
Not really. The game never really got past about 5GB of VRAM for me, so 6GB on the Go 1 and 10GB on the Go 2 didn't make a big difference.
