Quick answer: AYN says the Odin 3 Portal will charge at up to 45W, not the 60W it advertised at launch, and blames an internal documentation error. Prices still run from $399 early bird to $699, with shipping set for early November.
The AYN Odin 3 Portal will charge at up to 45W, not the 60W AYN advertised when it launched the handheld last month. Android Authority reports that AYN confirmed the change in an update on its official Discord server.
AYN put the 60W figure down to an "internal documentation discrepancy" and apologized for the confusion. In the update quoted by Android Authority, AYN says the finalized design and the actual product support a maximum charging rate of 45W, and that the Odin 3 Portal will be made and delivered to that 45W spec. AYN also says its product page has been updated. Android Authority notes that the original Odin 3 supports 60W charging.
Pricing on AYN's store is the same as when pre-orders opened. The Base model with 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is $399 at the early-bird price (regular $419), and the top Max model with 16GB and 1TB is $669 (regular $699). AYN's product page still says shipping starts in early November, and Android Authority says the exact date isn't clear yet. When I checked, the black Base model was listed as backordered.
The rest of the listed specs match what AYN showed before, including the Dragonwing Q8 chip, 7-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen, 9,000mAh battery and 450g weight. I covered the first Odin 3 Portal specs in October.
