Modern Warfare 4 Is Out Now on Switch 2, and Nintendo Life Gives It a 9/10

By Jerry VanOster · Oct 23, 2026

Quick answer: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launched on Switch 2 on October 23 for $69.99. Nintendo Life scores it 9/10, with a 30fps campaign, DMZ at 40fps docked and 30fps handheld, and multiplayer aiming for 60fps.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is out now on Switch 2, launching October 23 at $69.99, the same day as other platforms. It's the first Call of Duty on a Nintendo system since Ghosts in 2013, and Nintendo Life's full review gives it a 9/10.

The Switch 2 version was handled by Digital Legends, and reviewer Gavin Lane says it's the entire package with no cuts, plus crossplay and cross-progression. The campaign is 16 missions and roughly six to eight hours long. It runs at 30fps, which Lane says still feels smooth, with detailed environments and good lighting and particle effects. He notes some fizzy hair and occasionally fuzzy image quality.

The DMZ extraction mode targets 40fps docked and 30fps in handheld, and Lane says both feel solid. Multiplayer looks to target 60fps in most modes, and he didn't notice any dips in busy fights. Environment detail takes a hit there compared to other platforms, but he says he never once thought about frame rate while playing. More maps and modes are planned after launch, with Infected scheduled for Halloween.

His one real complaint is the sheer number of options and menus, especially in DMZ. Nintendo Life notes the review was mostly based on three days with the game at an Activision event, with travel and accommodation paid by the publisher.

The campaign was already playable early for pre-order customers, and we covered its DLSS and SMAA upscaling choice last week.
