Quick answer: Digital Foundry found the Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 demo runs around 648p with DLSS at a near-locked 30fps docked, about 600p at 40 to 55fps in performance mode, and about 432p at 30fps in handheld, where broken system VRR makes uncapped play judder.

Digital Foundry has put the Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 demo through its tests, and it calls the port surprisingly refined. The full game launches on Switch 2 on December 4, 2026.
Docked, the demo has a quality mode and a performance mode, plus a toggle for a strict 30fps cap. Quality mode renders at roughly 648p and uses DLSS to reconstruct the image. With the 30fps cap on, DF says it's virtually locked through the demo, with only single-frame drops during cutscene camera cuts. Performance mode renders closer to 600p with pared-back reflections and runs between 40 and 55fps, without frame generation.
Handheld has a single mode. It drops to about 432p before upscaling to the 1080p screen, lowers shadow quality and turns off screen-space reflections, but holds a solid 30fps with the lock on. The console allows an unlocked frame rate and 120Hz output, but DF says system-level VRR isn't working properly, so anything above 30fps shows visible judder. Locked is the better option for now.
Against Xbox Series S, which runs near 1080p with basic TAA, DF found the Switch 2 version often has crisper close-up textures and keeps screen-space reflections that Series S lacks, and the two images are competitive overall. Switch 2 cuts back on shadows, foliage animation, hair and model detail, and distant NPC animation, with some NPCs in interiors updating at just 10fps. The base PS5 has more detailed meshes and the full feature set, but its FSR 1 upscaling looks harsh and shimmery by comparison.
