Enshrouded 1.0 Is Out and Now Steam Deck Verified, With HDR and Handheld Performance Improvements

By Jerry VanOster · Oct 19, 2026

Enshrouded has hit its 1.0 release, and Keen Games' survival action RPG is now Steam Deck Verified. GamingOnLinux notes it was already Steam Machine Verified and SteamOS Compatible, and enough was fixed up for the 1.0 update to earn the Deck rating too.

On the content side, the full world is now open, including the new Cinder's Cradle biome, more dungeons, quests and bosses, and the end of the main story. The level cap goes up to 50 with gear upgradable to 55, there are nine new types of spells, and a new logic system called Sparkworks lets you build switches, traps and puzzles.

For handheld players, the technical changes are the interesting part. The changelog lists improved performance on handheld devices, low-end graphics cards and the Steam Deck, along with CPU and GPU optimizations, several methods to save video memory and significantly shorter shader compilation after a game or GPU driver update. A new brick renderer shows much more distant detail, and HDR is now supported with a new calibration screen.

One heads-up before you jump back in: existing saves get their skill tree reset the first time you load them in 1.0, so you'll need to spend those points again. Older saves are backed up and migrated to a new format automatically, and custom key bindings were reset to the defaults.
