GPU Prices Are Up About 35% in Three Months, According to a Hardware Unboxed Survey

By Jerry VanOster · Oct 29, 2026

Quick answer: Hardware Unboxed's ten-country survey of the cheapest in-stock graphics cards found prices rose 11% on average in October, after 7% in September and 15% in August, adding up to roughly 35% in three months.

Graphics card prices kept climbing in October. Hardware Unboxed's monthly survey across ten countries found an average increase of 11%, or 10% without the RTX 5090, as reported by MIXED.

That comes after a 7% rise in September and 15% in August. Put together, that's roughly 35% in three months, though individual cards and countries vary. The survey tracks the cheapest in-stock model of each GPU in each country through price comparison sites, so it measures the lowest entry price rather than an average across all models.

The RTX 5080 rose an average of 22% across the surveyed countries, with Brazil the one market where it didn't change. In the US, the cheapest RTX 5080 in the survey went from $1,580 in September to $2,200 in October. NVIDIA launched the card at $999. On the AMD side, the cheapest US Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB went from $500 to $620, against AMD's original $349 price for that model.

This lines up with what VideoCardz found earlier this week, when the RTX 5080 was selling for nearly $2,000 at US retailers. These numbers are October snapshots, not live prices.
