The SteamOS version of the Legion Go S with the Ryzen Z1 Extreme, 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD is $999.99 at Best Buy at the time of writing, according to The Verge, which lists it as the current discounted price. Best Buy's listing couldn't be checked directly, so that price is as of The Verge's October 18 report.

For comparison, Lenovo's own store lists this same model (83N6000GUS, Nebula Nocturne) at $1,607.99 as of today. Per Lenovo's spec list, it has an 8-inch 1920x1200 IPS touchscreen at 120Hz and 500 nits, 32GB of LPDDR5X-7500 memory, a 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD and a 55.5Whr battery.
The Verge compares it to the $789 Steam Deck OLED. It runs the same software, but adds two-stage triggers, a bigger screen at up to 120Hz versus the Deck OLED's 800p and 90Hz, double the RAM and storage, and a slightly faster processor. The Verge also notes the Go S launched with Windows 11 and the Ryzen Z2 Go, a newer chip that's less powerful than the Z1 Extreme in this model. If you want more power, it points to the new $1,299.99 ROG Xbox Ally X20 with the Z2 Extreme and an OLED screen.
My take: I've tested this Z1 Extreme SteamOS model on the channel, so it's one I've spent real time with. At $999.99 it's still above the $600 to $900 range I think of as premium, but it's about $600 less than Lenovo's own price. That's what makes it worth a look if you want SteamOS with more memory and storage than a base Deck OLED.
