The Witcher 3 Remastered Patch 5.01 Sharpens Up the Switch 2 Version

By Jerry VanOster · Oct 19, 2026

CD Projekt Red has started rolling out Patch 5.01 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered on Switch 2. It's out in most regions as of October 19, and the Japanese version follows once it passes certification. The headline Switch 2 change is a set of adjustments to image sharpening and resolution, which CDPR says improve visual clarity and fidelity.

The other Switch 2-specific items fix a rare crash when moving between in-game regions, optimize cache handling for Cross-Platform Mod Support, fix HD Rumble only being felt in the left Joy-Con 2 while climbing ladders, and stop map pins from being placed on the black bars around the map.

The patch also carries the general fixes from the other versions. That includes various performance optimizations, a fix for Dynamic Resolution Scaling causing visual artifacts in certain configurations, improved ladder animations, and a fix for Geralt's Stamina fully draining when sprinting and dodging at the same time.

GameWatcher had called the remaster's portable image shockingly blurry at launch. After the patch, it says there's a clear improvement in handheld play, with docked mode looking even better, though it didn't have pre-patch shots from the same spot to compare. The patch notes don't mention any change to the frame-rate cap. The remaster launched September 29, 2026 as a free upgrade.

My take: I covered The Witcher 3's next-gen patches on the Steam Deck, so it's good to see CDPR keep working on the handheld side here too. A soft image really stands out on a handheld screen. I haven't tried 5.01 on my Switch 2 yet, and I'd want to see a proper side-by-side before calling it fixed, but this is a good start.
