Xbox Cloud Gaming no longer needs a Game Pass subscription, at least for Xbox Insiders. Starting October 21, Insiders without an active Game Pass subscription can buy cloud playtime, and Microsoft says the option rolls out more broadly in November.

The introductory launch pricing is:
- 10 hours for $3.99
- 25 hours for $7.99
- 50 hours for $11.99
Microsoft says the packs are ad-free, with shorter wait times and high-quality streaming. They aren't monthly allowances either. Playtime stays on your account until you use it.
There are a few conditions. You need to own a cloud-playable game, or use free-to-play access for select games, and you need a supported device. Microsoft adds that availability, purchase options, eligible games and features can vary by market, device, account eligibility and Insider preview ring. Insiders can also still try Microsoft's free, ad-supported cloud gaming option.
The Verge notes the timing lines up with Grand Theft Auto VI. It previously reported that Microsoft secured streaming rights to the game, and Xbox chief strategy officer Matthew Ball said on X that Microsoft won't stream GTA VI to PCs.
